Details

The Registered Manager is responsible for all aspects of the day to day running of the home, overseeing all departments and ensuring that the highest standards of resident care are maintained and that the Registered Authority and regulations are adhered to at all times.

Description

The home manager is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the home. He/she oversees the home’s departments, ensuring that the highest standards of resident care are maintained while adhering to the Registered Authority’s/Care Quality Commission’s regulations, and all the relevant codes of practice. The manager is ultimately accountable for the health, safety and wellbeing of residents, in accordance with the organisation’s policies, procedures and core values.

The home manager leads the staff team and works in conjunction with the deputy manager and the home’s heads of department to ensure that staff trained and equipped to provide the best possible care. His or her duties are many and varied, and include conducting staff supervision and appraisals, overseeing training, ensuring that the home is fully staffed and recruiting new employees, upholding budgetary control and occupancy levels, attending management meetings, carrying out pre-admission assessments and maintaining good relationships with staff, residents, families, social workers, professionals and other external agencies. The home manager will also build up strong relationships with residents to understand their needs, ensure that their care plans cover all their care needs and, ultimately, deliver person-centred care. The home manager will also involve residents (where possible) and their families/representatives in the care planning process.

Although the role is primarily based at the home, the home manager will also spend time in external meetings, visiting prospective residents and making contacts. Alongside the contracted hours, some occasional evening and weekend work will also be required, as necessary.

To be one of our home manager candidates you will need a Level 5 qualification/diploma in leadership and management, a valid NMC PIN registration and a proven track record in operational management. Other crucial attributes include a strong business sense, excellent communication and leadership skills, high degree of motivation and determination to provide quality care to residents.
