Details

As a Care Assistant you will show warmth and support to the residents, helping to promote independence and dignity and positively enhance the lives of the individuals in your care. If you have knowledge and experience of caring for elderly people, come from a caring background and have a genuine love and understanding of older people then this job could be for you.

Description

Care assistants provide the highest possible standards of care and service to all the residents, whether working individually or as part of a team.

As a care assistant you will provide the best-quality person-centred care, checking on residents throughout the day or night and helping them with activities that they would usually perform (or have in the past performed) themselves but cannot now do so without assistance. This means promoting and encouraging as much independence as they can achieve while maintaining their dignity and self-esteem, all under the direction of your manager and working as part of a team. You will have an input into their care plans, alongside residents themselves and/or their representatives, and will also support residents to participate in wellbeing activities both inside and outside the home. Throughout, you will develop positive, helpful and caring relationships with residents and their families, as required.

You will work weekly contacted hours, as agreed with the home manager, and these are likely to include at weekends and during public holidays.

To be successful in the role you will preferably be qualified to Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, will have a professional, reliable and flexible attitude as well as the ability to work individually or as part of a team. You will have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to demonstrate a respectful, courteous, patient and compassionate manner at all times.
